04Tips before you pay

  • Agree the basics between yourselves first (children, maintenance, home). The lawyers’ hours are what push the cost up.
  • Ask each lawyer for a written final price including the fee receipt and VAT.
  • The law requires a separate lawyer for each spouse, so you cannot share one.
  • After the divorce, notify the ΑΑΔΕ (tax authority), the ΕΦΚΑ (social security fund) and the municipal register. See the procedure on grafeiokratia.gr.
  • If there is a shared home, ask in advance about the costs of the transfer contract.

The step-by-step procedure (documents, where it is done) is on grafeiokratia.gr (in Greek).
